Hi, I'm Si.

I'm from the UK and work online. I've done a bit of travelling and hope to do a lot more, working as I go. I want to see as much of the World as possible, once I leave this time I don't think I'll be back for a long while.

The plan was to go overland to Asia at the end of this summer (Trans-Siberian Express!  Grin) but my gf wants to go to Brazil so South America might come first.

Peace.

Trans-Siberian Express!  Grin

I've always wanted to do that. Have you heard about Red February? It's a blog by an Australian girl and French guy (it's written in English and French) who are planning on travelling from Paris to Melbourne by train. Well as much as possible I guess.

http://www.redfebruary.com/

They just finished 6 days on the Trans-Siberian railway and it seems like it was hell. The post about the train trip is here (in French):

A bit about me, I'm Australian and love to travel, not just to travel but to live in different countries/cities. My dream is to spend 1 year in a country and then move on to the next one, experiencing different cultures and meeting different kinds of people.

It's not really working out as planned though. So far I've lived in:

Perth (my hometown)
Melbourne - 1 year
Sydney - 6 months
London - 1 year
Milan - 6 months
Montpellier - 6 months
Paris - 3 years

I really need to get out of Paris and France. Hopefully Berlin will be next!

So this is why I work online, to enable me to move around as much as possible Grin

Great idea for a forum, I look forward to hearing other people's stories.

Hi Andrea,

I know what you mean about spending a while in places. I was in Thailand and Malaysia for 3 months and spent 1 month in one place, 1 month in another and the rest travelling about.

I'm def not a big city type like you though - give me a small town by sea (ideally tropical beach) over a bustling metropolis any day!

Hope you saw more of the UK than just London while you were over here!

Looks like a great blog... although my french isn't great and google translate isn't helping much...

"There is a great promiscuity in the car..."

Sounds like a good trip... not sure my gf would agree though!

Here's a quick summary:

9000km from Moscow to Beijing - took 6 days.

The Provodnitsa is like a concierge who runs the carriage. She took one bathroom for herself so everyone else had to share the only other bathroom. She also took control of the only power point, so if you wanted to recharge your phone you had to buy something from her first or just bribe her to use it.

There are no showers so you have to wash using the hand basin in the toilet and there is always a queue.

At one point it was minus 23 degrees outside.

They had to wait 5 hours at the border to change the train wheels.

The Chinese took great pleasure in refusing entry to a few Russians.  Smiley

Hey  - Geoff here - I am based in New Zealand. I typically have work outside of New Zealand a couple of times a year. 2003 and 2004 in and around San Francisco, 2006-2008 a number of times in Los Angeles.

I am off to LA again next week. I am looking to work in the south of France later in the year. I visited clients there last year and got to travel to Italy as well.

I have definitely changed my business alot in the last couple of years to make it easier for me to travel and work.

Hi Nick & Amit!

Nick, where is Raleigh? I know there's one in Thailand, but I'm guessing are in a different one? US somewhere? I bet there's more than one of most places, kinda gets confusing especially if it's a couple of big places like Birmingham or Perth.

Amit, whereabouts in India are you?

Should make it over there sometime in the next year or so. Any tips on places to go and things to do are definitely welcome! I've always fancied going to one of the Hindu festivals by the Ganges - looks like an amazing experience.

Take it easy guys.
