I always sorta ridiculed people who go around recording everything on their camcorders when travelling. I don't know it seems kinda lame. Anyway, my husband has been pestering me to get one for ages so I caved a few weeks ago and got one. As usual I was tossing up between getting a cheap one or the top of the range, I don't know why there is no middle ground for me. In the end I did get the best one based on cNet reviews.

Although I was against getting it at first, I have to say it is fantastic. I've already been to Berlin and Madrid and got some amazing footage. I just need to spend some time on editing it all.

Does anyone else take a camcorder with them when travelling?

Looks good! I've never bothered with a camcorder (bought one second hand one and never used it!) but am finding I'm using my camera more and more for videos.

Gonna make sure my next cam is reasonable for videos but I don't think I need anything fancy.. image stabilisation would def be nice though as would the ability to use an external mic - the biggest problem I've found is really poor sound quality in noisy environments (I tend to film a lot at gigs). Hopefully you don't have that problem with a top of the range camcorder.

I take my camcorder when traveling, but never use it.  It's not very big, but it's still about 3 times bigger than the small ones out now.  I'd think if I had a smaller one that recorded on a hard drive, it would get much more use.
